NAMM 2009: The Show - New Products, Great Performances

New Product Focus:

Here's a new product that debuted at the NAMM Show that is a must have for singers. It's called Microphome, and it's a professional mic cleaning foam.  Founder Thomas McCoy created the product out of necessity.

An artist first, explains McCoy, "I host a "Blues Jam" and all the musicians would come and sing (slobber) over my microphone." He then set out to find a product that would clean it effectively and found none  on the market. Working with a Biotech company, he then developed this product, and the response has been tremendous. At NAMM, McCoy showed me how it works, and since then, I've cleaned all of my microphones with it. Simple to use, you put a small amount of foam in the palm of your hand, hold the mic upside down, and clean. Awesome!

More info: www.microphome.org (727-403-9354), also sold in music stores.

Microphome Set to Clean Up Summer NAMM

St. Petersburg, FL (May 29, 2009)--The Summer NAMM show in Nashville will be a slightly cleaner place this year, as Microphome founder and president Tommy McCoy will be cleaning mics at the Players Music Accessories booth (booth 831).

A disinfectant/deodorizer designed specifically for microphones, Microphome is a fast-drying cleaning foam that aims to eliminate germs, cosmetics, and odors, leaving the mic safe to use.

Microphone was developed by McCoy, a singer/songwriter, blues guitarist and habitual inventor. "In my musical career, I've had to use a lot of grungy mics, whether at clubs, festivals or jams" he notes. "Besides being nasty and bad-smelling, unsanitized mics can be a real health hazard, and there was no easy way to deal with it. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and that's what inspired me to develop Microphome."

According to McCoy, a single pump provides a dose of alcohol-free foam that is spread onto the external surface of the mic grille, safely away from the internal electronics. After about two minutes, the residue-free foam evaporates, leaving the mic deodorized, reputedly 99.99% germ-free and safe to sing through.

"All performers should be concerned about health issues," says McCoy. "Microphom
e is the first and only product that addresses this concern. Now anyone can quickly and safely disinfect the mic before each sound check and performance. As we like to say: Foam it before you own it!"
